RHOS UNITED
VALENTINES DAY MATCH UP
Three matches took place, each of 20mins, one way, with no half time and S4C were in attendance and their cameras were whirring, seemingly, all through the first game.
RHOS UNITED put up a performance worthy of any cup winning campaign and well overturned the 1-4 Winter Cup match between the two teams earlier this year. RHOS 'walking' high on a 6-0 win with approximately 75% possession or better. LLANDUDNO barely worried the RHOS defence, but any minor threats were dealt with efficiently. Well done lads.
The second match was a fairly equal game with LLANDUDNO edging a 2-0 win mainly due to a few defensive deficiencies. But well played all.
The third match team was a mix of players from the first two games which seemed to show a fairly balanced game with RHOS looking like they'd 'knick' it 1-0 but LLANDUDNO didn't let it go and managed to slot in an equaliser late on. All in all, a very fair result and very well done to all players from both teams.
There were a few injuries along the way, one LLANDUDNO lad went down, unchallenged, with severe calf pain - RHOS UNITED’S G3EEE stood in for him despite his Thursday night injury and finally Richard got a blackened toe somewhere along the way. Best wishes to all for speedy recoveries.
Last observation of the night; it is often said that good support from off the pitch is worth an extra player on the pitch and this was the order of the night. The vocal support from the stand and the sideline cheering, encouragement and coaching from the RUFC was quite impressive, powerful and must surely have had a major effect on the home side. It was a clear indication that these lads are improving steadily, mean business and are here to do a serious job. Well done ALL. Last point for now the weather held off and the pitch played perfectly imho.
After match food was generously provided FOC in the cozy club house and the bar was available for drinkies. A great night for the upwardly moving RHOS UNITED lads and a massive thanks to LLANDUDNO for such an excellently hosted evening. Here's to next time (soon I hope:)
p.s. S4C have been contacted, and the TV footage link will be added asap.
